What gets me through my day is reading positive quotes and listening to podcast. I try to stay away from the news and negativity because I’m very empathetic. So, when something is in the news that involves a murder, unfair treatment, and various unjust crimes I get frustrated and it affects me mentally and emotionally. People think It’s strange when I tell them I don’t watch certain things on tv or look at the news because I don’t like taking my body through sad emotions. I don’t think it’s strange because at the end of the day I must cater to my emotions not them. I have a lot of compassion for people, so I don’t deal well with seeing people hurt and treated unfair.
Since the news main headlines hasn’t been positive lately, I’ve chosen to focus on own wellbeing. The more junk you look at and read can truly ruin your mental health. Since I had issues with my mental health in the pass, I learned how to control my emotions by choosing to focus on the good and not the bad. Yes, I do go through all my emotions like if I’m upset about a situation or sad because I miss a love one. The normal emotions. I don’t watch, read, or listen to things that causes me to be brought down. When I decided I wanted to live a happy life it took me taking ownership over my happiness. I learned how to respond to things in life in a way that it wouldn’t affect my happiness. I choose not to discuss certain topics that I know may be touching for some and I chose to talk to people that were positive and uplifting. So, when someone let people ruin their happiness, I don’t understand it. Granted I get it people hate their jobs or horrible relationships but why stay in a relationship or work for a company if it ruins your happiness?
So today I want you to evaluate your happiness. If something is ruining your happiness, then why let it continue? What are you going to do when you feel like external factors are causing you to lose your happiness? You have a choice. Choose to take control of your happiness and though the situation is not what you want it to be take ownership of it and fix it. When you take ownership of your happiness that’s when you gain your happiness. Stop allowing people and things to have control over you. Today you must decide to get your life back. Whatever that looks like to you, you deserve that. In life you have a choice to live unhappy and a choice to live happy which one will you choose? Happiness is not based on what you have or circumstances it’s a feeling you have no matter what you may be going through. It’s a sense of hope. Though it might not be good now you have seen better days. So, as you go about your day take control of your happiness, stop allowing others to have control over your mental state.
